I found an item in the clearance section that I would like to purchase, but I need more than the quantity available. Can I order additional pieces? top of page ^We do not gurantee availibility on clearance items. While we would like to provide you with the amount you require, items listed as clearance might not be available for reorder. If they are available for reorder, the cost for the additional items will be the current market price and not the discounted rate.
Please call 1-800-639-9063 for more information or if you have questions about a specific product.
What are your ornamental iron component products made of? top of page ^Our products are primarily made of three types of metal.
Iron Castings are consistently in the 20-25M P.S.I. strength range. This product is classified as a soft gray iron, composed of iron, carbon, and silicon that is melted then cast in a mold. The finished product is hard, brittle, and nonmalleable. Cast iron can not be hammer-welded but is more easily fusible than steel. Cast iron is usually more ornate or decorative then forged steel. Cast iron is for decorative purposes only - it is not structural!
Aluminum Castings are poured from ingots equal to or better than No. 319 alloy giving them strength, durability and light weight-approximately 1/3 that of iron. (You can only weld aluminum to aluminum unless the component has weld tabs, which most of ours do)
The iron and aluminum castings are made from the same impression. Some of the items we offer are thin and brittle; where others are thick and substantial. None of these should be used as a structural member or where exposed to rigorous usage by the general public.
Steel Forgings are wrought of mild steel allowing malleability and ease in fabricating steel to steel. Forged steel is usually more industrial looking, and can be used for structural support.
We also offer a variety of brass and plastic component products as well.
Do you do custom work? top of page ^We are not fabricators. We can, however, cut decorative tubing, twisted tubing, some forged steel patterned material (like the decorative flat bar), and handrails. Cutting charges may or may not apply depending on the case. Decoguard can be cut for an additional charge.
Can your ornamental iron products be bolted or fastened together? top of page ^No, our cast iron and steel component products are intended to be welded together for assembly into fences, gates, railings, furniture, etc. For cosmetic, nonstructural repairs to previously welded items such as spears/finials you can use a two part epoxy.
Why do you sell corner brackets without holes drilled in them? top of page ^Our brackets are shipped this way from the manufacturer and are designed to be welded to another piece of steel for gates or balconies. If you are very careful and use a very good, expense drill bit, it is possible to drill a hole in these brackets. Please be very careful when doing so as these brackets CAN crack or fracture, and we are not responsible for replacing them if this happens.
We do offer several types of gate hardware - weldable hinges with no holes and screw hole hinges.
Do your ornamental iron products come with a finish? top of page ^Most of our products come with no finish from the manufacturer. Cast iron is gray in color, steel is a darker gray, and our aluminum products are silver toned metal.
We do have a small number of painted cast iron products such as grilles and door ornaments.
How can I finish your products myself? top of page ^Our unfinished products can be cleaned and treated with various finishing products available on our site to create the desired look. We sell a variety of products such as various paint colors, metal plating and assorted oxidizers (to create different rust appearances).
